The measurement system includes the instrumentation, the on-site installation, the means of data collection and the data collected. Testing usually involves comparisons between some form of reference gauge and the sensor and/or data. If results of those comparisons are outside tolerance, validation of components of the measurement system may be necessary to identify the cause of the anomaly.
